Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
My original plan was that this morning I would begin to write this update to send out on June 1. However, due to changing circumstances, our church needs special prayer now. Allow me to explain.
Reading and studying Mark has been a great encouragement to us. In chapters 1 and 2, we are reminded that Jesus is moved with compassion, and He has absolute authority. Compassion without authority falls short of what we need. Authority without compassion offers little hope. Praise God He is compassionate to us, and He demonstrates absolute authority over man, demons, diseases, and He has absolute authority to forgive sins.
Last night, May 26, the Panamanian government announced that Phase 2 of their national plan to a “new normal” would begin on June 1. Churches will be able to meet at 25% capacity, and we have been making plans to have two or three services if necessary. This is good news for us.
The bad news is that our church rents a room from an events business that is not permitted to open in Phase 2. In fact, as best as we know, they will not be permitted to open until Phase 5. Nothing is certain, but Phase 5 may not begin until August or later.
What does this mean? It is possible, that although churches can begin to have services during Phase 2, we may not have a place to meet.
Please pray that we will be able to use this space beginning in June. Please pray that the government officials will show grace to the owners of this business, thereby showing grace to our local church. Just as Jesus demonstrated His absolute authority over man, demons, disease, and sin, we know He has absolute authority over this situation. Above all, please pray for God’s will to be done with, and in, our local church and in our community. We are trusting Him! Thank you for praying with us.
In Christ,
Clip, Mary, and Isaac
